Production, characterization and immobilization of protease produced by Periconia byssoides

Pedro Fernandes (2BRG‑iBB) and colleagues from the State University of Feira de Santana have teamed up to expand the repertoire of proteolytic biocatalysts through the production, characterization, and immobilization of an extracellular protease from Periconia byssoides. The study identified optimal conditions for enzyme activity and a promising immobilization carrier ensuring high stability. These findings advance the development of robust, reusable enzyme formulations suitable for biotechnological applications, contributing to more efficient and sustainable industrial processes.
