Patrícia Figueiredo was inaugurated as the President of the European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology (ESMRMB), during the Annual Business Meeting of the Society on 5th October 2024, after being elected for a 4-year presidential track (President-Elect, Vice-President, President, and Past-President).

The ESMRMB is a non-profit Society created in 1984 with the aim of supporting education and research in the field of magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy in medicine and biology. It currently counts close to 800 members, integrating a multi-disciplinary community that includes physicists, engineers, biomedical scientists, radiologists, clinicians, and radiographers. The ESMRMB organizes an annual meeting, as well as a series of educational courses throughout the year and the open science event MRI together. It also owns the journal MAGMA and houses six working groups on different topics. Patrícia Figueiredo has been an active member of the ESMRMB for the past 10 years: she was a member of its Education Committee between 2016 and 2019, and the Chair of the 38^th Annual Meeting in 2021, before being elected for the presidential track in 2022. This election is a testament to the international recognition of Técnico’s faculty and ISR researcher Patrícia Figueiredo, and it provides a unique opportunity to actively contribute to shaping European research in magnetic resonance, fostering innovation and advancing clinical applications.
