As part of the Técnico Open Day on April 5, 2025, the Department of Bioengineering (DBE) welcomed visitors to the Biological Sciences Laboratory for the activity "From Cell to Innovation: Biotechnology for the Future", under the guidance of the DBE faculty Joana Feliciano. This initiative featured the enthusiastic participation of students and faculty members, who showcased a wide range of hands-on activities. Highlights included the observation of microorganisms from Lisbon’s lakes, exploration of the potential of wine yeast, valorization of biological resources for sustainable health, diversity of yeasts and their applications in a circular economy, and insights into antibiotic resistance and emerging alternative therapies. These interactive demonstrations provided a comprehensive look into the diverse aspects of Biotechnology and its relevance for the future. The DBE would like to thank the participation of the many MSc and PhD students from the department that made this event a success, namely Adriana Pala, Afonso Correia, Alice Matos, Diogo Santos, Diogo Gonçalves, Joana Cardoso, Lara Sousa, Madalena Matos, Marta Pedroso, Maria Joana Pinheiro, and Mónica Fernandes.
