Open Labs at DBE

The DBE Open Laboratories activity is an annual event held since 2012 by Técnico's Department of Bioengineering and with the support of the Biological and Biomedical Engineering student groups and is for high school students.

The event has a total duration of 1 week and during each shift the various groups of students, which may come from different high schools, attend lectures on the research underway in the different scientific areas of the DBE, as well as the training offered by the Department.

The students then move to various teaching and research laboratories in the DBE to carry out visits and some laboratory experiments that are coordinated by faculty members and post-graduate students who carry out research in these same places as well as by monitors from the student centers.

The Open Labs initiative has been carried out annually since the year 2012, counting 899 (2012), 621 (2013), 550 (2014), 361 (2015), 760 (2016), 750 (2017), 710 (2018) and 760 (2019) participants.
