DIG4BIO Workshop: Introduction to Python – A Successful Event!

From 10–12 September 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting the DIG4BIO Workshop: “Introduction to Python” at the Holiday Inn in Lisbon, Portugal. This intensive, hands-on course offered (bio)chemical engineers an excellent opportunity to learn Python programming and apply it to real-world modeling scenarios.
Workshop Highlights: Participants explored key topics such as Python syntax, solving ODEs, and stoichiometry. The course also featured practical examples like upstream and downstream modeling, providing valuable insights into how Python can be effectively used in (bio)chemical engineering applications.
Course Lecturers:
- Carina L. Gargalo, DTU
- Fiammetta Caccavale, DTU
Course Assistants:
- Johan Carfort, DTU
- Rosa Hassfurther, TUB
- Rodrigo Manso, IST
Program Overview:
- Day 1: Covered Python basics and reactor design
- Day 2: Focused on use cases such as E. coli models and diafiltration
- Day 3: A hands-on project allowed participants to apply what they had learned in a practical context
We were thrilled with the enthusiasm and engagement from all participants, and we look forward to hosting more workshops in the future!
A big thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success!
