DBE Student Recognized with an IEEE Portugal “Outstanding MSc Thesis Award” 2025

The IEEE Portugal Section recognizes exceptional early-career researchers on an annual basis, by attributing awards to work that significantly advances scientific and technological fields within IEEE’s scope. After a thorough assessment and deliberation, in this year’s edition the jury decided to distinguish DBE Student Lilli Josehpine Anders for her MSc thesis entitled “Design and Evaluation of a Lower Limb Orthoprosthesis for Toddlers with Fibular Hemimelia Using Additive Manufacturing”. In her work, co-supervised by DBE Professor and Instituto de Telecomunicações Researcher Hugo Plácido da Silva, and by Professor Cláudia Quaresma from NOVA School of Science and Technology and 3D Printing Center for Health, Lilli merges biomedical engineering with advanced manufacturing, offering promising developments in customized pediatric prosthetics.
