The work “LAMPSY” developed by DBE student Vicente Garção, was distinguished with the “Best E.Project by Santander” (grand prize) at E.Awards@Técnico 2023. “LAMPSY” aims to develop a novel video-based epilepsy monitoring and seizure detection device that monitors patients in a discreet and privacy-preserving way. This work builds upon multiple years of research developed at Instituto de Telecomunicações / IST, and is being developed in the scope of an ongoing PhD thesis, supervised by DBE Professors Hugo Plácido da Silva and Ana Fred, together with Prof. Dr. Carla Bentes, involving also the collaboration of DBE PhD student Mariana Abreu.
