Supercritical carbon dioxide in the development of sustainable nanotherapies
Prof. Vasco Bonifácio (DBE, IBB) made an oral communication at the 4th International Symposium on Supercritical Fluids and 9th International Solvothermal & Hydrothermal Association Conference (ISSF-ISHA 2025), which took place in Bali, Indonesia, June 15-20, 2025. In his talk “Polyurea biodendrimers: Harnessing scCO2 for sustainable nanotherapeutics” he showed the latest work developed in the field of sustainable nanotherapeutics, using polyurea dendrimers synthesized using supercritical carbon dioxide. In this symposium he was the chairman of the “Reaction In critical Fluids” session and also a member of the best oral communication evaluation panel (doctoral students and postdoctoral students).
His doctoral student Ana Furtado, in co-supervision with Dr. Raquel Viveiros (FCT-UNL), was awarded tin his symposium with the best doctoral thesis award in the area of supercritical fluids in 2024, awarded by the International Society for the Advancement of Supercritical Fluids (ISASF).
