Every year, the IEEE Entrepreneurship Impact Award recognizes an individual who has had accomplishments of significant importance and with distinctive contributions to the entrepreneurial ecosystem of a country/region. Award recipients are selected based on the entrepreneurial spirit, value creation, impact, and sustainability of their work. Professor Hugo Plácido da Silva was internationally distinguished in the 2023 edition, becoming the first IST member and Portuguese citizen to receive this prestigious award. As he highlights, this is “a tremendous landmark” but also “an homage to a vast and dedicated team – current and past – whose collective efforts contributed to this achievement”. See more.
