An Historical Landmark for Biomedical Engineering in Portugal as Ordem dos Engenheiros Sets Off to Create a Specialty College

Established by law in 1936, Ordem dos Engenheiros (OE) is the regulatory and licensing body for the engineering profession in Portugal. Following an official deliberation resulting from a proposal made by the National Board of Directors, the OE decided to establish a new college focused on Biomedical Engineering, for which the Installation Committee (IC) has been formally established. On February 8th the OE president has inducted Ana Maria da Cruz Freire, Abel Filipe Santiago Nicolau, Tiago Filipe Sousa Gonçalves, Alexandra Paulina Quintela Antas Freitas Leite, Carlos Alberto da Costa Bastos, and DBE Professor Hugo Humberto Plácido da Silva as IC members.
