BioPic Day 2026

At the second BioPic Day, held on 9th June at the Técnico Innovation Center, third-year students from the Biological and Biomedical Engineering bachelor's programmes presented their first-cycle Integrative Course Projects (PIC). The PIC projects places undergraduate students inside research groups for a stretch of real research, greatly enriching their experience at DBE.
During the morning's poster sessions students walked through and defended their projects. The afternoon, open to all, ran a session on the department's Pedagogical Innovation Projects (PIP) and a panel on Bioengineering: Health, Industry and National and European funding. Profs. Susana Vinga and Frederico Ferreira moderated, joined by Francisca Leite (Hospital da Luz), Marta Candeias (IST-ID), Paula Videira (i4HB Associate Laboratory) and Tiago Matos (DBE).
On its second edition, BioPic Day has earned its place as the day the DBE brings its students, its teaching and the wider field of Bioengineering together.
