DBE Day 2026, the department's fourth retreat, took place on the 14th July at the Convento da Arrábida. The event brought together DBE faculty and staff for a day of activities and discussion on the department's future and the use of AI in an academic environment. The programme opened with a session welcoming new colleagues, followed by several lively team-building activities organised by the social committee, composed of Professors Paola Sanjuan-Alberte, Simão Rocha, Joana Cabral, Carla Brazinha, Tiago Matos and Tina Keller-Costa. The afternoon was dedicated to an update on the department's evaluation process, and closed with a talk by Professor Sérgio Pequito (ISR-Lisboa / DEEC) on artificial intelligence in teaching and research.

As in previous years, the day proved a worthwhile occasion for strengthening community ties and for the continued recognition of the Department of Bioengineering of Instituto Superior Técnico.
