Hugo Plácido da Silva, Invited Professor in the Department of Bioengineeing (DBE) and Senior Researcher at Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT), has been recently elevated to Councilor Member (CM) by Ordem dos Engenheiros (OE). OE is the regulatory and licensing body for the engineering profession in Portugal, and assigns the CM level to members with a distinctive professional and cultural curriculum following an independent evaluation. With this recognition, Professor Plácido da Silva becomes the first CM of the newly-created Biomedical and Bioengineering College, being also CM of the Computer Engineering college to which he is affiliated since joining OE.
