The Biological Sciences Teaching Laboratory, on the sixth floor of the South Tower at the Alameda campus, now bears the name of Isabel Sá-Correia, Distinguished Professor at IST and Emeritus Professor at Universidade de Lisboa. The tribute, organised by DBE's Biological Sciences Group, took place on 17 September and recognises her contribution to teaching and research in the biological sciences at Técnico.

The ceremony was attended by Professor Rogério Colaço, President of IST, and Professor João Pedro Conde, Head of the Department of Bioengineering, who highlighted Professor Isabel Sá-Correia's "enthusiasm, passion, dedication and rigour".

Admitting to feeling "a little self-conscious" at first, Professor Isabel Sá-Correia thanked everyone who had supported the initiative, describing it as "a tribute, in truth, to all the people who built this laboratory". A firm believer that "experimental teaching is absolutely essential", she expressed the hope that the laboratory would "continue to bring learning and research to students and generate knowledge
