Prof. Rodrigo Costa and team participate in the 2nd PT Microbiome Summit

The 2nd Microbiome PT Summit took place in October 26-27, 2023 in Lisbon, and united the scientific community active in microbiome research across several sectors, from industry to agriculture and aquaculture, human health and environment. Prof. Rodrigo Costa contributed to the Summit as member of the scientific committee, chairing a session on “Microbiomes in the Environment”. Research Scientist Tina Keller-Costa, Ph.D. student Joana Couceiro and Master student Daniela Silva presented posters shedding light on the phylogenetic uniqueness and versatile biotechnological potential of the microbiomes of cold-water corals. Incoming master students Guilherme Chaves (M.Sc. in Biotechnology) and Mariana Nunes (M.Sc, in Microbiology) who are starting their experimental research on algal and coral microbiomes, respectively, also attended the meeting.
