Latest Publication from Pedro Fonte’s Group: "Transforming Cancer Treatment: The Potential of Nanonutraceuticals"

We’re thrilled to announce the release of our latest paper, "Transforming Cancer Treatment: The Potential of Nanonutraceuticals." This study explores how nanonutraceuticals can overcome the traditional limitations of chemotherapy, offering more precise and effective treatment options for cancer patients.

In this comprehensive review, we examine the properties of nanonutraceuticals—enhanced solubility, improved stability, and targeted delivery—to address challenges like low bioavailability and off-target effects. By coupling nutraceuticals with ligand-directed nanocarriers, we open the door to treatments that directly target cancer cells, reducing unintended side effects. Furthermore, the co-administration of these nutraceuticals with chemotherapeutic drugs within nanocarriers holds the potential to amplify therapeutic impact, driving a more effective approach to cancer therapy.

Our paper also delves into the journey of nanonutraceuticals from preclinical studies to clinical trials, discussing the patents and research efforts currently shaping the field and bringing this technology closer to real-world applications.

This work would not have been possible without the dedication of an incredible team of co-authors: Girish Kumar, Tarun Virmani, Vaishnavi Chhabra, Reshu Virmani, Kamla Pathak, Sayeed Akhtar, Mulazim Hussain Asim, Shumaila Arshad, Farzana Siddique, and Pedro Fonte.
